How to Start & Finish Your Jewelry

The photos below show the finishing end (with a lobster clasp). The starting end follows the exact same steps — just attach an extension chain instead of a clasp.

STEP 01

Cut Your Wire

Cut a length of beading wire 2–3 inches for finishing. Slide one Lollipop Crimp onto the wire.

Step 1

STEP 02

Thread the Wire Guard

Pass the wire end up through one hole of the Wire Guard, along the U-shaped channel, and back down through the second hole.

Step 2

STEP 03

Attach Your Clasp (or Extension Chain)

Before looping the wire back, slide your Lobster Clasp (finishing end) or Extension Chain (starting end) onto the Wire Guard so it sits inside the loop.

Step 3

STEP 04

Loop Back Through the Crimp

Pass the short wire tail back down through the Lollipop Crimp.

Step 4

Check this before crimping: The two wires inside the crimp must run parallel — side by side, not crossed. Crossed wires are the #1 cause of jewelry breakage.

STEP 05

Set the Tension

Slide the Lollipop Crimp up snug against the Wire Guard. Hold the clasp steady and gently pull the wire tail to remove any slack.

Leave ~1mm of space between the crimp and your beads. A strand that's too tight will feel stiff and is more likely to break.

STEP 06

Squeeze the Crimp

Using the included flat-nose pliers, press firmly on the pin (the small protrusion) of the Lollipop Crimp until it clicks or "pops" into place. The wire is now locked.

Step 6a Step 6b

STEP 07

Hide the Tail & Start Beading

Thread your first 3–4 beads over both the main wire and the short tail together. This hides the tail neatly inside the beads. Trim any remaining tail with your pliers.

STEP 08

Add Your Beads

String your beads onto the main wire until you reach your desired length. Beads should sit snugly together but still move freely.

STEP 09

Finish the Other End

Repeat Steps 1–7 on the other end, attaching the Lobster Clasp (or Extension Chain, whichever you didn't use at the start).

Flexibility check: Before your final crimp, curve the strand into a circle. It should drape naturally. If it feels stiff, loosen the tension slightly before locking the crimp.
